Building on the momentum of our most recent meeting in Perth, we are delighted to once again welcome practice managers to our ASM in Brisbane. Expanding on the themes and conversations from 2024, we are developing a two-day program taking place on Saturday and Sunday onsite at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Cathy Baynie has career long experience in the Health Industry as a Registered Nurse and Practice Manager, having managed both general and specialist practices. Previous roles include Accreditation Surveyor and Practice Management Advisor to the NSW Australian Medical Association as well as Academic Director, Health Programs University of New England Partnerships. Cathy Past State and National President of AAPM.
Cathy is a firm believer that the Practice Management Workforce is crucial to the development of strong systems of leadership, governance and management enabling the delivery of quality care to Australian Communities.

Paul Copeland is a Chartered Accountant with 20 years experience in all areas of business advisory and taxation. For over ten years Paul has specialised in assisting clients within the medical industry covering all areas of general and specialist practices. Paul excels, not just with compliance but when tackling complex problems and developing tailored solutions ‘I try not to be compliance focused like most accountants; by understanding the medical industry you know what impacts their business and you can deliver greater value’, he says.

Loryn Einstein is Founding Director of Medbill, the leading outsourced medical billing and billing compliance business in Australia. Loryn has over 25 years experience in the healthcare sector and is a Certified Practice Manager. Prior to starting Medbill in 2009, Loryn held senior roles within Revenue Cycle Management at Queensland Health.
Loryn is a well-respected speaker in the medical industry and her passion is to keep doctors safe in the complex world of medical billing and Medicare Compliance. Loryn regularly lectures alongside DoH and PSR on these topics, developing extensive strategies and processes to protect doctors from unnecessary audits and potential compliance infringements.
Loryn holds a Bachelors of Commerce (Hons) and a postgraduate degree in Law.

Angela Mason-Lynch a Risk Adviser with Avant, she is a registered nurses with extensive experience managing practices of various disciplines and size. She is a past State and National AAPM President, Fellow, Life Member & Certified Practice Manager. Angela has experience as a board member and expert committee member for multiple bodies in healthcare.

Mr Gary Smith AM

Gary Smith AM has been a Practice Manager for nearly 4 decades, of a large multi-disciplinary general practice in western Sydney. His career has been extensive in the management of health care facilities and the provision of health services, predominately in the general practice arena. Gary is a past National and NSW State President AAPM. He is considered the ‘guru’ of practice management in Australia by his peers as well an as “influencer” in healthcare reform, especially in the areas of practice management and the quality agenda both in Australia and internationally. In 2021 he was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Letters from the University of New England and in 2023 was appointed as a Member of the Order of Australia with an AM for his contribution to medical administration and to professional organisations. He also holds an Academic Directors position with The University of New England Partnerships.
Gary takes a keen interest and involvement in health reform in Australia. He has provided advice to the Commonwealth Government on the management of health reform and has been member of various advisory groups to the Commonwealth and State Governments. He has just coauthored a handbook on Principles of Healthcare Practice Management.

Mr George Sotiris

George Sotiris is the Founder and Director of HR in Health, a leading provider of proactive HR solutions and support to the health industry nationwide. With a career spanning more than 15 years, George has established himself as a Workplace Relations Specialist dedicated to serving the unique needs of healthcare practices.
Driven by his genuine appreciation for the challenges inherent in healthcare HR management, George founded HR in Health in 2018. Since its inception, the organisation has been committed to empowering practices with the knowledge and tools needed to navigate complex employment issues and build robust systems for fostering better workplaces.
George firmly believes that the success of any practice hinges on strong employment foundations and accountability at every level. By simplifying intricate staffing disputes and offering comprehensive education on HR best practices, George and his team at HR in Health strive to make a tangible difference in the health industry.

Ms Colleen Sullivan OAM

Colleen Sullivan OAM has a background in nursing and is a graduate of the UoQ. She has a strong commitment to healthcare Practice Management and the role of the Practice Manager.
She has been a presenter, assessor and author with the UNE Partnerships Professional Practice Management Program. Colleen has also been an active participant in healthcare projects of improvement and innovation with a number of Medical Colleges, the AMA and other Healthcare Associations.
Colleen has positions of AAPM State and National President. She is a Certified Practice Manager, Fellow and Life Member of the Association.
Colleen has a strong interest in research and lifelong learning is Colleen’s motto demonstrated through her ongoing commitment to the health sector for which the Australian Government awarded her the Medal of the Order of Australia, OAM for service to Medical Administration in 2017, Colleen was also honoured to be awarded an Associate Member of AMA Queensland.
