Title: Microbiome-Targeted Approaches in Atopic Dermatitis: Linking Barrier Integrity with Microbial Virulence Modulation

Overview: Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic inflammatory skin condition characterized by barrier dysfunction, immune dysregulation, and recurrent flares. Beyond structural impairment, the skin microbiome plays a key role: reduced microbial diversity and increased colonization with Staphylococcus aureus can exacerbate inflammation through microbial virulence factors.
This presentation will explore how microbiome-targeted emollients can complement barrier support by helping to modulate microbial activity and soothe inflammation. By combining barrier reinforcement with microbiome-conscious innovation, modern dermocosmetics offer a promising approach to maintaining skin homeostasis and comfort in atopic-prone skin.
